Roy W. Dean Film Grant for 2020 Accepting Applications
If you are an independent filmmaker needing help completing your film, the Roy W. Dean Film Grant for Spring 2020 is now accepting submissions. The Roy W. Dean Film Grant, now in its 28th year, is awarded to a unique film that makes a contribution to society. Winner will receive $3,500 cash and $23,000 in film production services. Deadline for submission is March 31st.

Breakthrough Prize Foundation and TheWrap Launch New Competition for Innovative Science Filmmaking
TheWrap and the Breakthrough Prize Foundation on Monday announced the launch of a new film competition created to promote and support the development of films dedicated exclusively to science and scientists.
TheWrap and the Breakthrough Prize Foundation are seeking 6 visionary filmmakers with the ability to make engaging, original, accurate short films about the 2021 Breakthrough Prize laureates.
The competition will open for submissions on Monday, February 3, through Tuesday, March 31.
MAINE FILMMAKER SHOWCASE: “Making Cape Point”
The Maine Film Association and Portland Media Center are proud to present the Maine Filmmaker Showcase, featuring the Maine-made film MAKING CAPE POINT, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker, Rick Groleau.
A middle-aged bohemian reflects on his adventures as he “paints” a promontory on Maine’s remote Wass Island using an innovative technique he developed.
